Kerry Dalzell & Associates Limited has recently established a laboratory facility focusing on paint technology and related methods. The laboratory is probably one of the best equipped within New Zealand to perform a range of test methods in accordance with selected ASTM, AS and others internationally recognised.
These methods will cover viscosity measurement, wet paint composition parameters, drying characteristics and dry film characteristics. The laboratory is administered, and equipment calibrated, to conform to IANZ requirements. For other tests requiring capital-intensive equipment (e.g. salt fog, weatherometer, element analysis by x-ray, FTIR and GCMS analysis), we have access by sub-contract to other institutions.
Interested companies should make direct enquiries regarding the availability and cost of performing test methods.
Kerry Dalzell has a comprehensive experience in laboratory testing having been employed at DSIR Chemistry for some 23 years as a Scientist and Section Manager. During the 1970’s and 80’s both Telarc and NATA organisations retained him as a laboratory assessor. He has over that period evaluated most laboratories within New Zealand and some in Australia. He is familiar with the procedures involved in comparative evaluation of generic paint types and examination of paints to evaluate performance requirements. |
